European cities are modern. The street signs we find in them are generally quite effective and transmit the information clearly. However, when living in and strolling through some of these cities, I realised that something was missing.
Blind people can cross streets with the aid of the sound of adapted traffic lights and know where the curb is from the texture of the road. But, when they come to a crossing, do they know exactly what street they are on? Or what street they are walking towards?
It would be interesting to design street signs adapted to blind people so that they can travel more comfortably and find out the names of places without anyone´s help.
Señalización para invidentes.
Las ciudades de Europa son modernas. La señalización urbana que encontramos en ellas son, por lo general, bastante eficaces y transmiten la información de manera clara. Pero, al habitar y pasear por algunas de ellas, me di cuenta de que había algo que no estaba presente.
Las personas con ceguera pueden cruzar la calle ayudadas por el sonido de los semáforos adaptados y saben dónde está el bordillo de la acera por la textura en la vía. Pero, ¿cuando están en un cruce saben exactamente en qué calle están? O ¿a qué calle se van a dirigir?.
Sería interesante si diseñamos una señalización adaptada para las personas con ceguera. De esta manera podrían viajar de manera más cómoda y conocer cómo se llaman los lugares sin ayuda de la gente.
